Image of coronary artery preponderance

Three different coronary artery patterns are shown based on a study of 94 human hearts.

A: Balanced coronary artery distribution.
B: Left coronary artery preponderance.
C: Right coronary artery preponderance.

The hearts are seen from their posterior aspect. The loop indicates the crux (point where the posterior interventrieular and atrioventrieular sulei meet). In the study of 94 human hearts, the authors found left coronary preponderance to be more frequent in males (18.2%) than females (2.6 %) Right coronary artery preponderance is more common in females (23.1 %) than males (14.6%).
