A relatively safe emergency procedure for trachestomy. Fig. I, Skin folded up and pierced by a knife. This procedure reduces possibility of cutting underlying structures. Figs. II and III, The resultant vertical cut of skin will provide a clear view of underlying tissue and tracheal rings. Fig. III, Open the space between the two tracheal rings carefully. Insert any straw-like device to keep airway open. Remeber this is n emergency (life or death) procedure.
