Obturator Externus

Ronald A. Bergman, PhD
Adel K. Afifi, MD, MS
Ryosuke Miyauchi, MD

Peer Review Status: Internally Peer Reviewed
The external obturator shows little variation.Occasionally, a part of the muscle may be isolated above the point of exit of the obturator nerve. This becomes a potential nerve entrapment site. The muscle may be divided into three parts and this subdivision is considered to be the normal arrangement. Obturator externus may be connected to adductor brevis.
