Some relations of the fifth nerve roots in the posterior cranial fossa. In the lateral view of the brain stem the relation between the sensory and motor roots is shown; the remaining sketches, adapted from Dandy (Arch. Surg. 18:687, 1929), illustrate varying relationships between the fifth nerve root and the petrosal vein, with fifth and eighth nerves identified, in the last sketch an artery is shown related to the fifth nerve (see text).
