Peer Review Status: Internally Peer Reviewed

Present in 7 of 1000 subjects, a fibrous band joins the supracondylar process with the medial epicondyle forming a foramen through which the median nerve and brachial artery may pass.

A supratrochlear foramen when present may be closed in life by a membrane. It is more common on the left than the right and more common in females than males.

Redrawn from Terry, R.J. A study of the supracondyloid process in the living. Am. J. Phys. Anthropol.4:129-139, 1921; Terry, R.J. New data on the incidence of the supracondyloid variation. Am. J. Phys. Anthropol.9:265-270, 1926; and Trotter, M. Septal apertures in the humerus of American whites and Negros. Am. J. Phys. Anthropol.19:213, 1934.
