This section is the first of the wrist and hand series of sections. At this point, all muscles destined for the hand are tendinous and positioned to traverse the wrist.

Four carpal bones of the proximal row are sectioned. These are triquetrum (16), lunate (15), scaphoid (7) and trapezium (6). The trapezium is the only one of the four bones that does not articulate with the radius.
